Design and Rehabilitation Film

An excerpt from 'Design and Rehabilitation'. One of a series of films I made as part of the Design and Rehabilitation project, studying how the design process can play a role in rehabilitation after spinal injury. The project was run in three spinal injury units around the UK with academics from local design schools.

Claire is currently a research associate at the Centre for Community and Urban Research at Goldsmiths College.

Claire recently completed an MA in Photography and Urban Culture at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where she explored the integration of film and social theory. Her thesis project, for which she gained a Distinction was ‘Camera-Phones: A Users’ Guide’ about how young people use camera-phones as part of their identity building and display. This was screened as part of the exhibition ‘Liminal’ at Truman Brewery, London in September 2011 and at the International Methods Conference at the Open University in the same month.

Claire has been working with Royal Society of Arts over the last two years, creating films as part of research projects with people in drug and alcohol recovery and those going through the rehabilitation process after a spinal injury.

Claire is currently working on a visual research project which, after the riots of 2011 focusses on literacy and citizenship skills of young people with Daisi, creating relationships between school pupils in London and Devon.
